Access Keys
On some browsers, it is possible to use the keyboard to do some simple navigation around our site.
How do I activate Access keys?
Windows
When choosing access keys, make sure the shortcut is not being used already by the Operating System.
- Internet Explorer
- Version 4.01 and later support this feature. To activate a link, press alt plus the access key. For example, alt-/ will take you to the next page of a lecture.
- Firefox
- Firfox user press control plus the Access key to activate this feature. For example, ctrl-. will take you to the top of the page.
- Netscape
- As of version 6, Netscape supports Access keys. Press alt plus the Access key to activate this feature. For example, alt-, will take you to the previous page of a lecture.
- Opera
- Opera 7 (free version) supports access keys in most cases. To use an access key for a Web page in Opera 7, press Shift+Esc and then the access key.
Macintosh
- Safari
- Safari user press control plus the Access key to activate this feature. For example, ctrl-. will take you to the top of the page.
- Firefox
- Firfox user press control plus the Access key to activate this feature. For example, ctrl-. will take you to the top of the page.
- iCab
- iCab has many great features for accessibility. If you view a page with Access keys, it will display each valid key in angle brackets. Just press the key, and it will work. For example, if you are in the Glossary section of Lanoie.com, and you want to go to the 'C' page,just press the letter c, and you are there.
- Internet Explorer
- With IE 4.01 or later, you can press the control key plus the Access key at the same time. IE does not give you any indication what keys are supported, but you can find that out elsewhere on this page. For example, control-/ will take you to the next page of a lecture.
- Opera
- Opera 7 (free version) supports access keys in most cases. To use an access key for a Web page in Opera 7, press Shift+Esc and then the access key. Also, recent versions of Opera for Macintosh support many of the link tags that can be placed in the head of a document. To see the links, the link bar must be visible and the page must use the proper tags.
- Netscape
- As of version 6, Netscape supports Access keys. Press control plus the Access key to activate this feature. For example, control-. will take you to the top of the page.
